J.D. Powers 2022 EVC Study finds that firsthand experience with EVs plays an important role in purchase consideration.
J.D. Power 2022 U.S. Electric Vehicle Consideration Study. Study measured responses from 10,030 consumers and was fielded from February through April 2022.
ECGD is a turn-key Ride and Drive event held in cities all over the United States. The events are managed by experienced electric car drivers and educators.
We bring the cars, the educators, the event staff and the gear. You invite your customers.
The event provides guest drives of currently available production electric cars using twelve cars provided by Electric Car Insider. Product demonstrations and education are conducted by EV owners and ECGD event staff who are product experts.
EV Owners and Drivers are more knowledgeable, credible and there is no sales pressure.
A small percentage of a general audience is in buying mode. ECGD pre-registration ensures a qualified audience.
Typical Ride & Drives use available cars provided by local dealers. Most in-demand cars are often not available, and dealers can be “no-shows”. In addition, recruiting, scheduling and obtaining insurance documentation from dealers can be difficult and time-consuming.
Our original system of balancing the attendee load over the course of the event minimizes standing queues and wait time, eliminating the most common complaints from attendees.
Typical Ride & Drives use low quality flyers. High quality materials have more credibility and are more effective.
Typical Ride & Drives offer little or no follow-up. Measuring outcomes enables benchmarking and optimization. Follow-up ensures obstacles and impediments are overcome.
"I thought it was a fantastic experience and liked that it was not a sales event but more informational. It made me feel more comfortable asking questions.

ECI has developed optimized marketing materials with messages and imagery that are polished and have proven to be effective by delivering full-capacity attendance at nearly all events. Advance emails to attendees are presonalized and begin the development of a relationship.
ECI has held over 120 successful Ride & Drive events over the past ten years.
ECI’s project steps and resource planning are described in detailed using software-prepared project management documents that are shared with program sponsors. For each event, site maps are prepared and shared with all event participants. Each project plan is customized to meet the timeline and requirements of each event.
Reports include an outline of event objectives, a summary of participation and the pre-event survey.
For each Electric Car Guest Drive we keep track of the number of registrations, the actual attendance and the number of drives performed per vehicle. After the event we provide each sponsor with a detailed, graphical report of their statistics.
We stay in touch with our ECGD attendees, sending follow-up surveys every 3 months for an entire year.
We want to know if people have any obstacles to purchasing electric and help provide tools and services to assist them. Our ECGD sponsors receive their follow-up survey reports quarterly.
The Electric Car Guest Drive was a polished and professional ride and drive, and one where the participants where very satisfied with the experience. I’d recommend it to any organization looking to provide an opportunity for a community to engage with EV’s.

ECI helped us create a show-and-tell atmosphere where people could get behind the wheel and sit side-by-side with the owners of the vehicles who drive them every day. We were able to deliver an extraordinary customer experience, that left a lasting impression of what the future holds for them as consumers, and for us as an energy provider.

ECI is hosting a nationwide tour that starts in Arizona in February, and loops around the country. The trucks will be towing ECI’s new Mobile EVSE Exhibit, a beautifully finished 28’ trailer with twelve commercial and residential EVSE demo units (that can be configured for either audience), plus an eduction team. The entire operation is completely turn-key. ECI provides transportation logistics, staff, setup, takedown and transport to the next event.
